QUOTE FROM THE HEART
In each issue of Heartsong, I will open with a
quote, poem or lyric, which I have found
inspiring and uplifting. Today, I have chosen a
quote that discusses the importance of fairy
tales and their role in our lives, no matter how
old we are!
"If you want your children to be intelligent,
read them fairy tales. If you want them to be
more intelligent, read them more fairy tales."
"When I examine myself and my methods of
thought, I come to the conclusion that the gift
of fantasy has meant more to me than any talent
for abstract, positive
thinking."
~Albert Einstein~
A NOTE FROM KIM
Welcome to today's issue of Heartsong! I
hope the weather in your part of the world is as
beautiful as ours here in western North
Carolina. The birds sing their joyful chorus
from early morning until way past sunset, the
thermometer is hovering at about eighty degrees
during the day, and the arrival of Summer is
imminent. Memorial Day has come and gone, and I
spent a good deal of that day reflecting upon
our soldiers and their families. It amazes me
that June is upon us! Time certainly does fly,
doesn't it?
Next, a huge apology if you had trouble reading
the last issue! We goofed, for which we
sincerely apologize! Many thanks to those of you
who let us know about the problem. We hope we've
corrected it for this and all future issues!
I mentioned my teleclasses in the last issue,
but I wanted to specifically mention that my
class on Intuitive Guidance is coming up on June
13. In it, we'll talk about how to recognize
your intuitive guidance, how to tell what is
your fear talking instead of your intuition, and
ways you can harness your intuition in everyday
situations. It will be a lot of fun, and I hope
to meet many of you there! Oh, and this class is
free! For details on this and all my other
upcoming classes, visit:
http://www.kimloftis.com
And click on "Classes And Events." You can
register for any class right there on the site!
Come join in the fun!
I'd also like to announce that my spiritual
sister and friend, author Cate Cavanagh, is
generously offering copies of her acclaimed
book, "Gifts of The Spirit", for free, in ebook
form! It's a marvelous book that I am sure
you'll treasure. For information on how to get
your copy, please email Cate at:
quantumspirituality@yahoo.com
Put something like, "Free Ebook", in the subject
line. I know you'll love it!
Finally, I'd be honored and grateful if you
would please rate Heartsong at the Ezine Finder:

Well, enjoy the rest of today's
issue, and happy June!
FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE, WITH LOVE
A lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope in a
violent storm. A lighthouse sheds light on our
worries and troubles, and brings us joy and
peace. Therefore, in each Heartsong issue, I
will include an article, which will help to
guide you through the dark and troubled times,
or lighten and brighten your heart and life in a
special way. In today's Lighthouse article,
we're discussing the wonder and power of
fairytales, and how they can benefit us in our
everyday lives, no matter what our age may be!
The Practical Magic of Fairy Tales
As a child, nothing delighted me more than being
told a fairy tale. I adored imagining those
enchanted castles, dashing princes on their
snow-white chargers, and the ever so evil
witches who tried so hard to destroy the
beautiful damsel, but always failed. I use to
make up my own fairy tales to complement the
ones I knew and loved so well, and I can't
express how much I enjoyed living in that world
of magic and fantasy that those beloved stories
created for me.
But we don't have to be children to still enjoy
the wonders of a fairy tale. They can lift our
spirits, bring us hope, and even help to mend
our broken hearts. When in doubt of finding true
love, why not remember Cinderella, who rose
above adversity to eventually live happily ever
after. When you're having a particularly strange
or confusing day, think about dear Alice, who
was more than a little baffled by her adventures
in Wonderland. Or, on those days when you can't
seem to look at yourself in the mirror, think of
our friend the ugly duckling, who turned into a
beautiful swan, and discovered his true beauty.
You may be scoffing at this suggestion. Life
isn't a fairy tale, after all. But think about
it for a moment. These scenarios above make us
smile, bring us hope, and remind us of innocent
bliss. Fairy tales help us to keep our sense of
childlike wonder. Through remembering and
telling these stories, we keep our imaginations
alive and well. They assist us in remembering
that there is happiness in the world, and if we
have enough courage, dream enough, pray enough,
and believe, then we can find true happiness.
Fairy tales remind us that love not only exists,
but also thrives. Love is within each and every
one of us, just waiting to be shared with
others. Like in Cinderella, we can act as
someone's fairy godmother or fairy godfather,
assisting them in growing and teaching them that
they are truly worthy of love and blessings.
Imagine how delightful it could be to watch
someone blossom through your gift of love? Is
that not a blessing? All of us can
make such a difference! All of us can help
others to discover happiness.
Fairy tales can remind us of the magic that is
all around us. They help us to gaze in awe at
nature's beauty, and smile upon seeing the
playfulness of the children and animals around
us. These wonderful stories help us to sustain
and maintain balance. They encourage us to have
fun, to love for the sake of loving, and to
believe in our dreams! They help our inner child
to come out and play.
What are your favorite fairy tales? How might
they begin to inspire you in your life at this
very moment? Listen to your heart, and never
give up on your hopes and dreams. Like
Cinderella, love awaits you. But you don't need
a magic wand to turn your pumpkin into a
glorious coach. Simply ask God, Spirit, your
inner self, to assist you in whatever way you
need, and then take the steps you are guided in
taking, to begin to make your happily ever
after, a reality.
HOPE AND HEALING
All of us need to take the time to be gentle
with ourselves. Therefore, each issue of
Heartsong will include tips with which you can
nurture, pamper and transform all aspects of
your life. Enjoy!
The Sweetness of Victory
Let's face it, there are days when we'd simply
prefer to pull the covers firmly over our heads
and snuggle up all day, free from the world and
the craziness involved in taking it on. We'd
much rather stay in bed with a good book, our
trusty remote, a cup of coffee and a couple of
doughnuts for company. Having emotions and
thoughts such as these is quite normal, as long
as they aren't a daily or nearly daily
occurrence. Plain and simple, there are times
when we just don't want to get out there and do
what society says we're supposed to do.
When we battle feelings such as these, consider
a few points. Are you in your current job,
relationship, or location because society says
that's where you should be? Are you plastering a
smile on your face because you are supposed to
do so? Are you making a point to find happiness
and fulfillment within your current life and
circumstances?
It is so vitally important for
each of us to honor ourselves and our thoughts
and feelings. If you have a day once in a while
when you just want to pull the covers back up to
your chin and stay in bed, ask yourself why you
want to do so? Can you afford to do this? If you
can, why not honor that emotion and do it? If
you can't, at least take a moment to honor the
feeling. Say, "Okay, I don't want to get up. I
recognize that." If you're in a job,
relationship or other situation, which causes
you unhappiness, seek ways to bring more
fulfillment into your life. For instance, if you
wake up and don't want to leave your cozy bed to
go to a job you dislike, think of a way you can
reward yourself at the end of the day for
getting out and facing the world. Find a hobby,
make some new friends, or go out and do
something fun. Above all, remember that there
are such things as small victories. Though they
may be small, they are victories nonetheless.
Perhaps facing your day is a victory. Perhaps
lying in bed is a victory. Or maybe finding a
new passion is your personal victory. These
victories can serve as very sweet spots in the
fabric of life. Recognize and celebrate them!
How are you being victorious in your life today?
HOME AND HEARTH
In this section of the newsletter, I will
provide tips to help you to bring your own
creativity, spirituality and unique talents into
your everyday life, and, more specifically, into
your home.
Nature's Decorations
Well, June is upon us, and I can hardly believe
it's here already. Why not decorate your home
with Mother Nature's bounty? I found this
wonderful project, written by Glenna Morton, on
how to make a fruit centerpiece to grace your
home. Enjoy, and happy creating!
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 5 to 15 minutes
1. Decide on the color scheme of your table
setting. This will depend on the china and
linens you'll be using.
2. Find an appropriate bowl, platter, or basket
to hold the fruit. The container should fit
comfortably in the center of the table.
3. Measure the height and width of the
container.
4. Go to the grocery store or farmer's market.
Decide which fruit will look best with your
color scheme. All of these will work well:
lemons, oranges, pears,
apples, grapes.
5. Before purchasing fruit, take a look at a bag
of the fruit and compare it to the measurements
of your container. Buy enough to fill your
container nicely.
6. To arrange fruit in the container, first pad
the bottom if necessary (some baskets have rough
areas that may pierce the fruit, so cover with a
small
towel or piece of foam.)
7. If you find you don't have enough fruit, then
build up some padding at the bottom of the
container first. Towels, crumpled newspaper, and
even styrofoam
peanuts can be used for this purpose. Cover
these with leaves or moss, then add fruit.
8. Mound fruit into the container. On the top
layer, arrange fruit so it is set securely on
the fruit below it. (Use small toothpicks to
secure it if necessary,
so nothing rolls around.)
9. Clip leaf branches into small sprigs. Insert
these around the edge of the container. Then
insert a few leaves between the fruit on the top
layer.
10. Set finished container on your table.
11. Keep cool if possible, to lessen chance of
deterioration.
12. Check fruit every few days to make sure it
is still fresh and firm.
13. Dismantle arrangement as fruit begins to
age.
14. Clean container thoroughly before putting
away.
Tips:
1. Coordinate linens and china colors to the
fruit purchased.
2. Using a large bowl of one type of fruit looks
terrific. However you can also mix fruit types
for a "still life" type of arrangement.
3. Keep fruit cool if possible, and away from
heat sources.
4. Check periodically for freshness.
PRAYER FROM THE HEART
Each issue of Heartsong will feature a prayer,
either from my own heart, one which I hold dear
in my own life, or one suggested to me by
others. I hope they will speak to your spirit,
as well.
Dear God, please help us to honor our feelings
and ourselves in general. Assist us in
recognizing our victories as we travel life's
path, no matter how small they may seem. Thank
you for teaching us the importance of play and
imagination in our everyday lives. We are so
grateful to be your children. Amen.
HEARTSONG REFLECTION
Until our next issue, take time to
reflect on your victories, and honor yourself in
some special way. Read some fairy tales, or
better still, tell them out loud, either with
the special children in your lives, or with
others whom you love. Remember the importance of
play!
Love, Light and Blessings,
Kim
