QUOTE FROM THE HEART
In each issue of Heartsong, I will open with a quote, poem or lyric, which I have found inspiring and uplifting.  Today, I have chosen a quote that describes the power of turning our supposed problems into new and potentially wonderful opportunities.

Problems are only opportunities in work clothes. --- Henry John Kaiser 1882

A NOTE FROM KIM
Welcome to today's issue of Heartsong}!  I am so delighted that you are honoring me with your presence.

As I write this issue, I find myself thinking back over a week that has been more than a little strange.  I was having a conversation with a friend of mine recently, in which I commented that if I hadn't lived through this week, I might not believe just how weird it's been!

You know, I'm sure we've all experienced strange periods, in which we are continuously asking God, "Okay, God, what's this weirdness all about?"  In situations like this, it's important to remember that all days, all circumstances, and all people in our lives, have lessons to teach us.  Our job is to study, learn from, and remember these lessons, and find ways to turn them into positive ideas, which we can incorporate into our minds, hearts and lives.  So keep that in mind the next time you have an experience, day or week, as weird as my week!

By the time you read this newsletter, my upcoming teleclasses will be listed on my site!  A teleclass is a class in which we all call in to a phone number, and then enjoy spending time learning, laughing and getting to know one another.  I am currently offering several different classes from which you can choose, including classes about intuitive guidance, stress management, creativity, and more.  For full details and registration information, please visit:  http://www.kimloftis.com   Click on "Classes And Events", and have fun browsing my upcoming offerings from the heart.  Then, feel free to come join in the fun!  And please invite  your friends and anyone whom you think may be interested.  I look forward to meeting you in class!

Enjoy the rest of this issue, and have a fantastic week!

FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE, WITH LOVE
A lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope in a violent storm.  A lighthouse sheds light on our worries and troubles, and brings us joy and peace.  Therefore, in each Heartsong issue, I will include an article, which will help to guide you through the dark and troubled times, or lighten and brighten your heart and life in a special way.  In today's Lighthouse article, we're talking about things in our lives, which we consider to be problematic, and how we can transform these supposed problems into glorious opportunities.

An Opportunity Just Waiting To Happen
By Kim Loftis

"Is this really happening?", I thought, as I sat listening to my dear friend inform me of a situation which made my world spin on it's axis.  Though I was hearing his words, I was unable to comprehend what he was telling me.  Why had he not told me about this before?  Why was I seemingly the last to know about this situation?  Emotions coursed through me like a tidal wave.  I felt anger, frustration and exasperation.  How could my friend dare to burden me with this problem?  And how was I supposed to deal with this problem now that I knew about the situation?

Later in the day, when I had cooled off and was thinking more rationally about the situation, I came to realize that my friend had not burdened me with a "problem" at all!  In fact, in telling me of his situation, he had blessed me with a new and glorious opportunity for learning, and, yes, even enlightenment.

If you were shaking your head and questioning my sanity as you read the preceding paragraph, I can certainly understand why.  How did I, as angry and disconcerted as I was earlier in the day, go from seeing my friend's situation as a problem, to an enlightening learning experience?  In actuality, I used several tools, which I'm honored to share with you in this article.

First, I allowed my anger to evaporate.  This took some patience on my part, but, as you may well know, it's impossible to think rationally about any situation if your anger is bubbling like a volcano at the surface of your mind.  Breathe through the anger, allowing it to slowly decrease with each exhalation.  With each inhalation, breathe in peace and calmness.  It may sound silly, but with practice, this technique can help you grow calmer in a quicker amount of time.

Second, when I felt more grounded and less angry, I again reflected on the supposed problem.  As I went back over the situation, I asked myself the following questions.:

What is it about this that makes it a problem?
Was I angry with my friend because of what he supposedly burdened me with, or did my anger evolve from something entirely different?
What can I find that is positive in this situation?
How did my friend see this from his perspective?
What can I do, right now, to improve this situation?

Asking these, or similar questions about any problem in your life, helps you to consider the supposed problem from a number of different angles and perspectives.  This line of questioning also allows you to take action steps to turn the problem into something positive.  When looked upon from a positive perspective, and when worthwhile aspects of the problem are discovered and explored, then voila!  You've just turned your supposed problem into an opportunity for growth, exploration and evolvement.

These steps work with any problem to one degree or another.  If the problem is larger, it may take longer to find anything about it from which you can learn, or any positive aspects that may result from this problem coming into your life.  However, with some practice and determination on your part, by following these steps, you can begin to transform your life's supposed problems into rich opportunities for growth.

HOPE AND HEALING
All of us need to take the time to be gentle with ourselves.  Therefore, each issue of Heartsong will include tips with which you can nurture, pamper and transform all aspects of your life.  Enjoy!

HEAVEN SCENT
Our sense of smell is something which we often take for granted.  In truth, however, it can be a powerful aid in relaxing our mind and body, and nurturing our spirit.  Consider for a moment, all the wonderful scents which bring peace and joy to your heart.  Perhaps you enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass on a summer morning.  Perhaps the smell of freshly baked goods such as raisin bread, chocolate chip cookies, or cinnamon rolls brings you delight.  Or maybe the smell of baby powder brings back warm and wonderful memories of your son or daughter as a baby.  Here are some tips that bring scent, and your sense of smell, squarely into focus.:

1. Make a list of all the things you enjoy smelling.  This way, you're more likely to notice them when you come in contact with them.
2.   Pay attention to scents you experience throughout your day.  Take mental note of how these scents make you feel.  Are there some that you find particularly soothing or relaxing?  If so, how can you incorporate them into your life on a more regular basis?
3.   Keep nurturing scents around you, so you can experience them often.  Put good smelling sachets in your drawers, shower using fragrant body products, or plant fragrant flowers outside your window, where the scent can waft to you during the day and night.

Enjoy smelling your way to a healthier, happier life!

HOME AND HEARTH
In this section of the newsletter, I will provide tips to help you to bring your own creativity, spirituality and unique talents into your everyday life, and, more specifically, into your home.

The Pleasure of Being Pampered

Why not indulge in a little luxurious pampering this week?  Okay, so you might not be able to afford a three-day spa treatment, but you don't have to spend a fortune to pamper yourself.  For instance, an aroma therapist friend of mine once recommended that I massage my feet with lavender essential oil before going to sleep at night, and my sleep would be greatly enhanced.  And you know what?  It worked!

Or why not give yourself a manicure, have a friend massage the tenseness out of your shoulders, or just take a ridiculously long, rejuvenating shower!  Have a decadent piece of cheesecake, drink some fine wine, or use some of your best perfume to wear to work!  Or gentlemen, watch a football game, go tinker in the garage, or some other activity that brings you joy.  Just find some creative ways to take a little time to pamper the special person that you are!  The possibilities are endless!  Have fun, and enjoy!

PRAYER FROM THE HEART
Each issue of Heartsong will feature a prayer, either from my own heart, one which I hold dear in my own life, or one suggested to me by others.  I hope they will speak to your spirit, as well.

Dear God, please help me to view life from many perspectives, as I journey through my week.  If a person or situation troubles me, help me to see things differently, and grant me the wisdom to learn the lessons that will help me in being the best person that I can be.  Help me to be kind, considerate and loving to those I meet, no matter how hard that may prove at times.  Thank you for teaching me, and for loving me so much.  Amen.

HEARTSONG REFLECTION
Until our next issue, take some time to reflect and meditate upon those supposed problems you are currently facing.  How can you view them from a fresh perspective?  What can you do, in this very moment, to take a step towards turning a supposed problem, into an opportunity for growth?

Love, Light and Blessings,
Kim
