QUOTE FROM THE HEART
In each issue of Heartsong, I will open with a
quote, poem or lyric, which I have found
inspiring and uplifting. In this, Heartsong's
inaugural issue, we're focusing on Mother's Day
and the exceptional people who are our mothers.
Today, I have chosen a poem, from the heart, to
express the utmost importance of these wonderful
women in our lives and in our hearts!
Mothers Are The Place Where
Love
Copyright by Nicholas Gordon
Mothers are the place where love
Emerges from the earth,
And happiness rings out like bells
In honor of our birth.
Mothers are the sun that lights
For life our inner sky,
So we may know that we are loved
And need not question why.
Mothers are the moon that shines
Upon our black despair,
So even when we weep, we know
That someone's always there.
Whatever fear, or stress, or pain
Might them to anger move,
We know that underneath the storm
We have, always, their love.
A NOTE FROM KIM
Welcome to the inaugural issue of Heartsong! I
am so delighted that you are honoring me with
your presence. I want this to be a newsletter
that will uplift, inspire, and teach your heart
to sing joyfully, hence the name, Heartsong!
I will soon be offering teleclassses, details of
which will be announced in this section of the
publication.
Again, welcome, and enjoy the rest of the
inaugural issue of Heartsong. And thank you for
being part of this exciting journey. I promise,
it's going to be magical, so stay tuned!
FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE, WITH LOVE
A lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope in a
violent storm. A lighthouse sheds light on our
worries and troubles, and brings us joy and
peace. Therefore, in each Heartsong issue, I
will include an article, which will help to
guide you through the dark and troubled times,
or lighten and brighten your heart and life in a
special way. In today's inaugural Lighthouse
article, we will reflect on the wonderful
mothers in our lives.
Mother Love
By Kim Loftis
Mothers. They hold our hands as
children when we cross the street, wipe our
runny noses, spend sleepless nights tending us
when we're sick, and comfort and love us each
and every day. Mothers are one of God's greatest
blessings, for they shape our lives in countless
little ways, and play a huge role in molding us
into the adults we become.
These amazing women are tireless in their
efforts, selfless in their actions, and
unflinching in their love and devotion.
My own dear mom has been instrumental in shaping
me into the woman I am today. My mom exudes love
in its purest form, and I am so honored to be
able to experience her love on a daily basis.
From an early age, she instilled in me a love of
literature, which I hold close to my heart as an
adult. She taught me the joy of laughter, stood
by me throughout my sorrows, and gently taught
me so many important lessons. Throughout all
this, her humor, sense of fun, and tremendous
love, has shown like sparkling jewels as I
continue life's journey.
Mother's Day is a day in which we honor Mom for
the gem that she is. But we do not need a
holiday, a special occasion, in which to honor
her. Mom is vital to us each and every moment of
our lives, from infancy through adulthood.
Therefore, we must remember to show our love and
gratitude to her daily, as well as on this
occasion we call Mothers day.
Also, as we honor our mothers, let us also
remember to be grateful for God's motherly love
for each of us. We are all children of a
boundlessly loving Mother/Father God. We are
always being nurtured, protected and securely
held, no matter what difficulties we may be
facing. As we celebrate, cherish and honor our
mother on this day, let us keep in mind that, no
matter the circumstances... whether we are
currently feeling joy or sorrow, pain or
happiness, that God is a nurturing, supportive
and constant mother figure, ready and willing to
heal our hearts and soothe our souls. All we
need do is say the words, and release to God's
care all that we carry.
To those of you who may not have a mother, or
whose mother is not a part of your life for
whatever reason, I encourage you to seek out
mother figures. Whether she is a grandmother,
aunt or dear friend, seek out a supportive woman
with whom you can openly share yourself, and who
will love and support you unconditionally. If
you do not have, or cannot find such a mother
figure, then call on God and allow God's eternal
mother love to uplift and support you, always
and in all ways.
To all the mothers, grandmothers, and to all
those extraordinary women who serve as our
mother figures, we honor you, now and every day.
We are more grateful to you than we can ever
express. And, most of all, we love you!
PRAYER FROM THE HEART
Each issue of Heartsong will feature a prayer,
either from my own heart, one which I hold dear
in my own life, or one suggested to me by
others. I hope they will speak to your spirit,
as well.
A PRAYER FOR MOM
Dear God, bless our beautiful mothers, and all
those women who are the mother figures in our
lives. Gently hold them in your loving arms as
they walk their life's path. Guard their
footsteps, and shower them with all the
blessings, which they so greatly deserve. Gently
remind us, each day of the year, to cherish
these precious women who so brighten and enrich
our lives with their kindness, their patience,
and most of all, their love. Today, and
everyday, God, let us always honor our mothers
and mother figures. We thank you, from the
bottom of our happy hearts, for bringing us
these amazing women, and for allowing us the
opportunity, to show them how much we love them.
Amen.
HOPE AND HEALING
All of us need to take the time to be gentle
with ourselves. Therefore, each issue of
Heartsong will include tips with which you can
nurture, pamper and transform all aspects of
your life. Enjoy!
Creating a Mother Altar
I would like to dedicate this
article especially to those of you whose mothers
are no longer with you on this Earth. I
understand how Mothers day can feel very
difficult for you, without your mother's
physical presence. But you can still honor her
and celebrate all she has done for you. One way
to do this is by creating a "mother altar." This
is a very tangible way of honoring your mother.
It can be set up in any special place... a cozy
corner, a bedside table, or anywhere you'd like
to openly celebrate Mom. You can design your
"mother alter" any way you'd like, but here are
some very general instructions to get you
started.
1. Gather some precious mementoes that remind
you of your mother, whether it is photos of the
two of you, special jewelry or figurines, or
anything you'd like to display.
2. Find a special place to display these special
objects, like a table top, sitting on a favorite
trunk or chest, or some other surface of your
choosing.
3. Arrange the objects in any way that is
pleasing to you. Get creative... decorate with
flowers, write a poem or something from the
heart to display with the mementoes, draw a
picture, light candles, anything you'd like.
This is your special, personalized "mother
altar", so make it a place you enjoy spending
time.
4. Use your newly designed "mother altar" as a
sacred space to reflect on your mom. You may
even want to talk to her while spending time
here. This is a place where you can feel closer
to your mom, and celebrate her life and your
relationship.
Enjoy celebrating your mom. Remember that,
although she may not be with you physically, she
always remains close to you in spirit. She's
still around, loving and supporting you. I wish
you much comfort and love.
HOME AND HEARTH
In this section of the newsletter, I will
provide tips to help you to bring your own
creativity, spirituality and unique talents into
your everyday life, and, more specifically, into
your home.
A Mother's Day Collage
A collage is a terrific way to
surprise Mom, while giving her a beautiful,
creative and handmade gift. You can design your
collage in any way you choose... you could use
pictures from magazines to accentuate and
complement the family photos in the collage.
Make it beautiful to look at, fill it with lots
of sentiment and family memories. This is a
wonderful project in which to involve the kids.
A collage is as unique as the people creating
it, and the beautiful Mom receiving it. Have
fun!
HEARTSONG REFLECTION
Until our next issue, take some time to
reflect and meditate upon mothers, motherhood,
and what that symbolizes for you. You don't have
to be a mother yourself to be a mother figure to
someone else. Seek out those who could use your
love, your wisdom and your support, and give
them that gift. In doing so, you, in turn, are
also deeply blessed.
Love, Light and Blessings,
Kim
