A NOTE FROM KIM
Welcome to today's issue of Heartsong,
Happy February! The month has started out here
with a rush of winter weather. Ice is hanging
thickly from the trees around my house, which
looks beautiful, but is, of course, very
dangerous. I feel blessed to be snug and warm
here writing to all of you!
I wanted to remind everyone about my
inspirational blog,

I post articles, quotes and lots of inspiring
content there, to lift your spirit and bring joy
to your life. If you enjoy Heartsong and the
content I offer here, you'll love my blog, too.

and leave me comments to tell me what you

FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE, WITH LOVE
A lighthouse serves as a beacon of hope in a
violent storm. A lighthouse sheds light on our
worries and troubles, and brings us joy and
peace. Therefore, in each Heartsong issue, I
will include an article, which will help to
guide you through the dark and troubled times,
or lighten and brighten your heart and life in a
special way. In today's Lighthouse article,
we're continuing the discussion that we started
in the last Heartsong Lighthouse article, with
some tips to make saying "yes" to your dreams
easier to implement.
The Transformational Power of a Three Letter
Word, Part Two
Note: You can find Part One of this series
here.
We've established that the most important way to
build our confidence and achieve our desires is
to say a whole-hearted "yes" to making them a
reality. But this takes courage, preparation and
planning to put into effect. Saying "yes" isn't
easy. Here are three important steps to assist
you in opening yourself fully to the discovering
and achieving of your heart's desires.
First, have a support system in place. It's
amazing how many inspirational ideas you can
generate when you have supportive people in your
life who can listen to your ideas, and help you
to formulate plans to bring those ideas to
fruition. A team of supporters can cheer you on,
help you to flesh out concepts you're uncertain
about, and be honest with you in their feedback.
Find some supportive people who you know will
give you their full attention, two listening
ears and complete honesty. Find people who are
creative, open-minded and who care about your
success. You may even consider hiring a coach,
who can serve as a totally committed and
completely supportive partner to help you in the
achievement of your success.
Next, do your homework. What action steps will
you need to take so that you can feel confident
about saying "yes" to the opportunities that
your heart is asking you to accept. For
instance, when I knew I was being called to
coaching, there was a lot I had to learn and
consider before I began. There was marketing to
learn, coach training schools to consider, and
coaches with whom I wanted to talk to gain some
perspective. I'm still learning every day, but
the preparation for this incredible journey has
been totally invaluable for me as a coach, and
it will be for you, too, no matter your desire.
Get out there and see what exciting things there
are to discover, learn and experience! You'll be
glad you did this preparation, as it will make
things much easier as you go along.
Finally, ask Spirit. Pray, meditate, look within
your innermost heart. What are you being asked
to consider? In your innermost being, how do you
feel about saying "yes" to your opportunity?
Don't think with your head for this part...
listen to your heart. This is the part of you
that has deep love and compassion for you and
knows your true greatness. Pay attention to its
wisdom. Ask God / Spirit for wisdom, courage,
strength and fortitude, and know that you are
deeply loved and cherished.
By following these steps prior to saying that
magical three-letter word, and embarking on your
next incredible journey, you'll feel more
confident, have more courage, and be ready to
take on the challenges and joys that are always
a part of saying "yes!" Enjoy the journey!
HOPE AND HEALING
All of us need to take the time to be gentle
with ourselves. Therefore, in the first issue of
each month, Heartsong will include tips with
which you can nurture, pamper and transform all
aspects of your life. Enjoy!
A Little Comfort
(This was originally posted on my blog, A Candle
to Light Your Way, which you can find here):
http://www.Kim-Loftis.blogspot.com
This article was inspired by a sweet lady named
Arlene, who sent me a beautiful email a couple
weeks ago introducing herself to me, and a
second email this week describing
her loneliness. Thank you, dearest Arlene, for
inspiring this post.
We all experience feelings of loneliness at
times, sometimes mild, sometimes very intense.
Sometimes it's very hard to shake when these
feelings appear.
Today, I'd like to share a few tips that I use
to heal loneliness. I sincerely hope they help
you, as well.
1. Create and / or cultivate fulfilling
relationships. This is a key practice in
combating sadness and loneliness. Get out and
meet people who have similar
interests. You might consider doing this by
attending a church, spiritual center, gardening
club, support group or community center of some
kind. What
activities do you enjoy? Think about what really
makes you happy when you're fully engaged in
doing it. Pick a few of these, and look for
places where
you can meet and get to know others who also
enjoy this or similar activities or lifestyles.
If getting out is difficult for you for whatever
reason, the
internet is another way to make new friends from
across the world. Start with Google groups,
Yahoo! groups, and MSN groups to browse for
communities of
interest to you.
2. Pets! We aren't all animal lovers, but if you
are, a pet could be a terrific medicine to help
heal your lonely heart. If we show love to our
animals,
they will love us with passion and total joy.
They don't judge us, they never condemn us, and
they can almost always make us smile!
3. Music! Finally, music is one of my favorite
ways to deal with feelings of loss, fear or
loneliness. Music soothes the soul, opens the
heart and can totally
transform our entire outlook on life. It brings
joy, hope and comfort.
Here's an example of music healing the heart.
This is my absolute favorite song to play when
I'm sad or lonely. It's called, "This is to
Mother You", and is written and performed by
Irish singer, Sinead O'Connor. This is a video
of Sinead performing this song live in Rome.

choose "open in a new window" from the options

The Lyrics:
This is to mother you
To comfort you and get you through
Through when your nights are lonely
Through when your dreams are only blue
This is to mother you
This is to be with you
To hold you and to kiss you too
For when you need me I will do
What your own mother didn't do
Which is to mother you
All the pain that you have known
All the violence in your soul
All the wrong things you have done
I will take from you when I come
All mistakes made in distress
All your unhappiness
I will take away with my kiss, yes
I will give you tenderness
For child I am so glad I've found you
Although my arms have always been around you
Sweet bird although you did not see me
I saw you
And I'm here to mother you
To comfort you and get you through
Through when your nights are lonely
Through when your dreams are only blue
This is to mother you
May you find the comfort, joy and love you so
richly deserve. God bless, and I love you all!
PRAYER FROM THE HEART
Each issue of Heartsong will feature a
prayer, either from my own heart, one which I
hold dear in my own life, or one suggested to me
by others. I hope they will speak to your
spirit, as well.
"The Empowerment Prayer"
"God, great spirit which flows through all
living things,
love, which surrounds me,
word, which fills me,
breath, which breathes through me,
I ask you to enter my life and I surrender my
will to your will for my life.
I'm not sure how everything works, but I put
absolute trust and faith in you to guide my
ship.
I give you every part of my emotional, mental,
physical, and spiritual being.
I offer you every bit of my self I can muster
upon rising each day and will live every moment
of my life for higher power,
living in unconditional love and giving that
unconditional love back to the world around me.
You have all of me... my spirit, my life, my
breath.
I thank you and praise you.
Amen."
(I found this wonderful prayer in an article
written by Scott Andrews. You can find the
entire article on the wonderful Aspire Now
website.
HEARTSONG REFLECTION
Until our next issue, look within to discover
what preparations you can begin making, so that
you can fulfill an opportunity to say "yes."
Also, do you need a little extra comfort right
now? What would feel comforting to you in this
moment?
Love, Light and Blessings,
Kim
